Compare and Contrast or Narrative:
During the world cup, Zidane would run around and score goals but what most people didn't know is that number of these goals were off-sides and should not have been counted. So while he went running around the field and cheering, his team should have been sad and trying hard to get another goal. So adding more sideline referees will help in determining these calls. Also when Zidane had a little verbal fight with Materazzi (who he later headbutted) the extra sideline referees could have saved that because the argument took place near the sideline which has no assigned referee.

Descriptive:
Soccer is a sport played with 22 players on the field (11 from each side) and has a total of 3 referees. Two out of these three referees are used as sideline referees to keep track of off-sides and any physical contact between the players that is unnecessary. The third referee is know as “The Referee,” and is the most important of the three officials on the field. Only he carries a whistle and he uses it to signal the starts and stops of play. So out of these three people, spotting every foul in the game is an extremely tough job which can be made much easier by simply adding two extra sideline referees (raising the total up to five total referees). Also these questions won't be asked as much; was a player off-sides when he scored? did the ball cross the line? did the foul really merit a penalty? And so those decisions made by referees that turn around matches in an instant have a less chance of occurring with more officials out on the field to help.

Direct Address:
If you are one of the millions of fans who love watching soccer, then wouldn't you want the game to be fair and the referees make the right call? So why not add extra side line referees to solve the problem and make sure that a goal is actually a goal and not just an off-sides call that was missed and what if a penalty (pk) is not suppose to be a penalty kick. Soccer players are very good at tricking the referees and getting what they want by over-exaggerating an injury. The referee has to make the right call which is sometimes not the easiest thing to do when you have a player on the ground “injured” and many others shouting at you to give them a free kick.

1. Direct Address:
You shift your feet, waiting for the center to snap the ball. Your eyes are on the quarterback, trying to read where he will throw the football. A loud “Hike” was shouted by the quarterback as the receivers began to run their routes. You follow your guy, eyes now concentrated on him. As you see his hands go up trying to catch the ball, you have to make a decision, fast. As you see the football go into the receiver’s hands, you make your tackle, trying to bring the guy down and knock the ball out. Your helmet knocked on his helmet, as both of you drop to the ground. When you are being helped up by your teammates, you see the ref pull out a flag, and realized that you had been called for an unnecessary roughness fowl. Three days later, the NFL fines you $75,000 for the play you made.

2. Startling Statement:
NFL defensive players are being fined up to $75,000 for making hits on receivers. Hits that may eventually be a big deal. Hits that may have made the difference between a touchdown and a turnover on down.  Hits that get players praised for in the locker room after the game. Now, as more new, soft players enter the league, there just isn’t enough wit in them to take the big hits and continue to play the game.

3. Twist:
Hits to the head in the game are causing more concussion than ever. The NFL is now trying to protect its players by fining defensive players for making these hard, dangerous hits. More fowls are being called for some, once legal, tackles made by defenders. Many players, including Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens, don’t agree.

Heat beat the Magic 104-100

The big three of the Miami Heats beat Dwight Howard and the Magics on the road as Lebron James scores his Season high, also the League's season, 51 points. He was 17 of 25 from the field, including 2 three pointers, and 14 of 17 from the free throw line. This is the first time since Lebron has been at the Heats that he has scored almost half the team's points, and this shows that he can still take the game over and score when he needs to.
